That's us - the Youth Coalition Against Smoking leaders.

With the Youth Coalition Against Smoking, we’re mobilizing in an effort to curb smoking among youth. Our objective is to foster Québec’s first tobacco-free generation of teens!

We’re working hard to make it happen! By acting individually, in our respective regions, and collectively, we’re denouncing the deceitful practices of tobacco manufacturers, raising awareness and achieving gains.

Come join us! Together, we can change the world!

YCAS leaders 2014-2016

  • Samuel Nolet Montérégie

I live in Mercier, which is in the Montérégie region, and I’m a student at Bonnier high school. It’s so sad to see young people of my age compromise their quality of life and life expectancy by smoking. I really want to do everything I can to prevent it!

  • Lydia Nait-Said Maurice-Centre-du-Québec

I’m a student at Chavigny high school in Trois-Rivières. I joined the fight against smoking because it makes my blood boil when I see the tobacco industry systematically target young people! We’re not going to take it lying down…

  • Arnaud Bédard Abitibi-Témiscamingue

I’m from Rouyn-Noranda in the Abitibi-Témiscamingue region, and I’m a student at D’Iberville high school. As far as I’m concerned, smoking is as harmful to a person’s health as it is to the environment. We can’t just sit back and do nothing about this plague.

  • Nathan Larose Laval

I come from Laval, where I’m completing my studies at Leblanc high school. Some of my friends smoke, and I find it hard to think that one day, one in two of them will die as a result of it. I’d give anything for them to stop before they suffer the consequences.

  • Élisabeth Bourassa Côte-Nord

I live in Baie-Comeau, in the heart of the Côte-Nord region, and I’m a student at Serge-Bouchard high school. I loathe cigarettes as much as I love my friends, and I want to make sure the two stay separate!

  • Maude-Lanui Baillargeon Saguenay-Lac-St-Jean

I have the good fortune of living in Saint-Félicien, in the Abitibi- Témiscamingue region, where I’m a student at Normandin comprehensive school. I’m against smoking and the tobacco industry, which continues its efforts to attract teens and enslave them to tobacco, in the full knowledge that smoking kills…

  • Victoria Tremblay Montréal

I’m a YCAS leader from the Montreal area and a student at Cavelier-de- Lasalle high school. There are smokers in my circle of close friends, unfortunately. I worry for them, and I want to do everything I can to bring about change.

  • Sophie-Rose Desgagné Chaudière-Appalaches

I live in Charny, which is in the Chaudière-Appalaches region, and I study at L’Aubier high school in Saint-Romuald. When I learned about the health consequences of smoking, I helped my father quit, and now I want to do the same for the teens in my age group who’ve fallen into the smoking trap.

  • Audrey MacWhirter Gaspésie-Îles-de-la-Madeleine

I live in Caplan, but I’m as student at Aux Quatre-Vents high school in Bonaventure, which is in the beautiful region of Gaspésie-Îles-de-la- Madeleine. In my view, tobacco is a poison, period, one that kills slowly and surely.

  • Valérie Dollo Bas-Saint-Laurent

I live in Rivière-du-Loup, where I attend Rivière-du-Loup high school. One of my relatives is still a smoker. I’m afraid for him and for his health. If I can prevent just one teen from taking up smoking, I will have accomplished something meaningful.

The 2008-2009 Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network in

their social action

On January 22, as part of the 2009 edition of Quebec Tobacco-Free Week, the members of the Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network held a press conference in the Studio Theatre at Montreal’s Place des Arts.

The event was attended by roughly one hundred teens, in addition to several journalists and a number of special guests. And so much the better, because teens were the target audience for the Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network’s communication entitled “Don’t be taken in!”

Here’s a “making of” clip showing members of the Youth Coalition Against Smoking Advisory Network preparing the event.
